Migraine Diet … Relief from Throbbing Pain
You had just arrived at the party, eager to enjoy a night out, when a migraine headache struck. The migraine brought unbearable, throbbing pain. It made you nauseous and sent you to your host’s bathroom. Your vision blurred, and you headed for a dark bedroom to lie down. The noise coming through the walls added to your misery, and you soon realized you’d have to go home. You usually took migraine prevention medication, but you had run out.
Migraine Prevention Research
Migraine prevention research has shown that certain food triggers may be the cause of migraine headaches. Find the food triggers, and you may find a migraine prevention program. Follow a daily diet that avoids every food trigger, and your migraine prevention plan may rule out every throbbing pain.
Testifying to Migraine Prevention Success
Many people who have followed the researchers’ migraine prevention diet report relief in the intensity of headaches suffered. Many others report a reduction in the number of migraine headaches. All testify to benefits of some kind with the migraine prevention diet.
Avoiding Foods for Migraine Prevention
For migraine prevention as simple as avoiding the food that triggers migraines, try eliminating these foods from your diet.
* alcoholic beverages - especially red wine
* anchovies
* avocadoes
* bananas - ripe
* beans - some kinds such as broad, lima, lentil
* caffeine
* canned soups and packet soup mixes
* cheeses that are aged, such as cheddar
* chicken livers
* chocolate and other cocoa products
* dairy products, including sour cream and buttermilk
* MSG
* papayas
* passion fruit
* peanuts and peanut butter
* pickled herrings
* processed meats such as dried meats, hot dogs, bacon
* sauerkraut
* sourdough breads
* soy beans, soy sauce, tofu, etc.
* yeast
Note that most of these are highly processed and manufactured food products that are fairly simple to identify, test, and eliminate from your diet. Eliminating one at a time will help you decide what migraine prevention diet works for you.
Trigger foods may or may not be the migraine prevention you need, but they are worth consideration. Talk to your health care provider for advice before undertaking any diet.
